About Us. The Asian Carp Regional Coordinating Committee with support from federal, state, and local agencies, and other private stakeholder entities, will create a sustainable Asian carp control program to prevent introduction and implement actions to protect and maintain the integrity and safety of the Great Lakes. The Action Plan document details 60 high-priority strategic measures designed to prevent the spread of four species of invasive Asian carp in the Great Lakes. Description: As an extra precaution, the ACRCC also will conduct intensive monitoring in a six-mile stretch of the Chicago River beginning near the Chicago lock, after one set of samples tested positive for eDNA in that area. While the North Shore Channel is regularly monitored for the presence of Asian carp, the level 1 response intensifies efforts with additional commercial fishing crews, agency electrofishing boats, and additional deep water sampling gear during an intensive four-day fishing period.
The Asian Carp Regional Coordinating Committee ACRCC was formally established in early and represents the collective efforts of international, federal, state and municipal agencies to combat the spread of Asian carp into the Great Lakes. Identify additional research, technology, and data needed to effectively inform and support Asian carp management strategies. Support development of technologies and methods that will result in the control and management of Asian carp; and the transferability of these new tools for use in the control of other invasive species, where possible. Encourage the exchange of information between member agencies and stakeholders, and seek opportunities to transfer and further leverage control technologies developed as part of the Action Plan to other areas of the United States and Canada. Coordinate implementation and evaluate the effectiveness of collaborative Asian carp assessment, prevention and control measures, as described in the Action Plan.
